GRANT APPLICATION GUIDELINES & DEADLINES
The Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation, Inc. (formerly the Sigmund Sternberger Foundation) is a relatively small local Foundation that devotes a substantial portion of its available assets to the funding of various scholarships maintained by it for residents of Guilford County. With regard to non-scholarship grants, the Foundation has limited the scope of its funding to projects and programs serving residents of
Organizations eligible for grants are those that have qualified for exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or are public instrumentalities.
You may contact Bob Klepfer, the Executive Director, at the Foundation office to discuss your project and explore grant potential. If necessary, you may request a meeting with the Executive Director.
For its fiscal year ended March 31, 2008, the average non-scholarship grant award was approximately $17,500.00. Non-scholarship grant awards were made in the fields of education, human services, health, historic preservation, the arts and economic development.
The Foundation Board does not have fixed meeting dates. Directors generally meet to consider grant applications three times annually. The Foundation Board will next meet on Thursday, November 13, 2008. The deadline to receive grant applications for the November 13, 2008 meeting has expired. The new deadine for receipt of grant applications has not been established, but will be sometime after January 1, 2009.
Requests for funding must be submitted on the Foundation's Online Application form.
SIGMUND STERNBERGER REVOLUTION LODGE SCHOLARSHIPS
GUIDELINES
These Guidelines have been adopted by and are subject to interpretation and modification by the Revolution Lodge Scholarship Committee of the Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation.
1. An eligible applicant ("Eligible Applicant") must be a permanent resident of Guilford County, North Carolina or must be attending a college or university located in Guilford County, North Carolina, who is a child or grandchild of a member of Revolution Masonic Lodge, Greensboro, North Carolina and who has submitted to the Tannenbaum -Sternberger Foundation on the form(s) required by the Foundation, a written application for a scholarship together with all requested supporting documentation. Elibible Applicants shall be enrolled in a standard undergraduate curriculum with a normal full-time workload.
2. Recipients and scholarship amounts will be determined in the discretion of the Revolution Lodge Scholarship Committee of the Tannenbaum-Sternberger Foundation after reviewing the apparent financial need, academic performance and other attributes of the Elibible Applicant. Preference may be given to Eligible Applicants who attend a college or university located in Guilford County, North Carolina.
3. Sigmund Sternberger Revolution Lodge Scholarships will be used for the payment of tuition, required fees and course-related expenses, such as books and equipment.
4. At the conclusion of each semester or academic quarter, recipients of Sigmund Sternberger Revolution Lodge Scholarships must provide the Foundation with a copy of the transcript of their courses and grades earned.
