The Board of Directors of the Foundation met June 26, 2008 and approved the following grants:
1. The Charles B. Aycock Neighborhood Association - $20,000 for the removal and replacement of the old chainlink fence that surrounds Aycock Middle School.
2. Barnabas Network - $10,000 for the purchase of new mattress sets for children who are sleeping on the floor.
3. Eastern Music Festival - $50,000 for a pilot leadership program for woodwind and brass scholars.
4. Green Hill Center for North Carolina Art, Inc. - $15,000 for programming at the Hemphill Branch Library.
5. Guilford Child Development - $30,000 for school-age day care scholarships for the summer of 2008 for working parents.
6. Special Olympics North Carolina, Inc. - $10,000 to recruit 100 children and adults to participate in year-round sports training and competition.
7. Women's Resource Center of Greensboro, Inc. - $15,000 to fund the Women's Healthy Lifestyle Initiative.
